The moon will be in the seventh house - someday.
Of course, as soon as I make my first appearance on DeviantArt in what, 2 years?, I will be taking another leave of absence. This time, should only be for about 3 or 4 weeks. After that, I hope to be a more consistent, active participant in the DA community. I will be gone for awhile because my husband are taking off across the pond to go to the World Science Fiction Convention in London, where we will revel in five days of unabashed geekiness. After than, we will explore more of the UK, including Scotland and Ireland.
So much has happened in the last couple of years. I've been establishing a small cottage business with my jewelry and it's been an interesting journey. When I first started stringing beads, I had no idea where this would take me. My current passion is seeking out bits of vintage bits and pieces to be incorporated in one of a kind jewelry and knick knacks. That means lots of garage sales, estate sales, hole in the wall antique dealers. It's exciting to find a unique relic that can be re-purposed into something new and fun.
Oh! Sometimes I am so slow on the uptake! It just occurred to me that there are probably incredible finds just waiting to be discovered all over the UK!

Windstorm
Windstorm, Dec. 1, 2011, Sierra Madre
An epic windstorm blew through the canyons and over the San Gabriel Valley, Dec. 1. It blacked out entire cities and today, a week later, there are still areas in the dark. It toppled thousands of mature trees, often onto homes. I've lived in Sierra Madre for more than 30 years and have seen many windstorms. This was the worst of them all. Basically, we had a low level Category I hurricane, without the rain.
We had no power for three days and had to throw out all the food in the fridge and freezer. A single restaurant in town got a huge generator and opened for business. It was wonderful to be able to
It's been awhile
I've been away from DA for quite awhile. No catastrophes, no long journeys. Just life took over for awhile. I did a few shows which, of course, meant hiding out in the studio for awhile creating inventory. I got a resale license, did some shopping with it, and did my taxes. I went to World Con in Reno and did well both in the Art Show and as a part-time vendor.
I was not able to get as crazy for World Con as I had hoped because a dear friend asked for my help in promoting a big concert. I've known John Bilezikjian http://dantzrecords.com/ for about 30 years. When I was a belly dancer, he often provided the music for the shows. Later, he was

I'm Ready for My Close-up
I have discovered something new, at least for me - Haul videos. This happened because a lovely young lady contacted me via my Etsy store http://Scoop51.etsy.com about featuring some of my jewelry in one of her videos. My kids had to clue me in to the significance and popularity of Haul videos. This lady, DoraDrummer on YouTube, has 500+ subscribers, which is more people than I have see at my recent sales events. So, I sent her the earrings she liked. Yesterday the video went up and it surprised me. I had expected her to include my jewelry as a one or two pieces among a number of others in a haul. Instead, she reviewed two sets of my earrings

from what I can tell, I don't think you're missing much on DA. . . I don't get on so much any more and the only thing that seems to change is the amount of deviations in the pile that I haven't looked at (currently at 5K)
